Anyone can benefit from Reflexology, including children, older people, people suffering from addictions and pregnant women. Reflexology is safe and drug-free, so any person can begin Reflexology sessions.
Are there specific sessions for different types of clients?
Sometimes I will administer lighter and shorter sessions in older people, pregnant women, people with chronic conditions and children. However, it is recommended that these same types of clients receive reflexology more frequently. For some conditions I may also use VRT.
Is Reflexology a new therapy?
No. The origin of reflexology cannot be traced to one single time or place. Evidence suggests that primitive forms of reflexology existed in ancient India, Egypt, and China as much as 5,000 years ago.
Will I feel tired after the session?
You may feel quite woozy and relaxed after the session is complete. It is important to remember that this is time for you to relax, rest quietly or to talk about the things that are happening in your life. It's an hour out of busy life to allow yourself to get what you need.
Are there any side effects after the treatment?
Reflexology assists the body to heal itself. Some people may experience discomfort after a Reflexology session. You may feel extreme sleepiness and feel shivery. You may have flue like symptoms/runny nose/headache or may have frequent urination and/or defacation and/or diarrheoa. Some people feel quite thirsty. It may also effect your emotional wellbeing so you may feel depressed or extremley energised. You may also feel aches and pains in a specific reflex point on the foot or in the associated body part. These minor discomforts are evidence of your body's healing process, they are temporary and are not serious. If the symptoms persist then you should assume that the cause is independent of the treatment and you should consult your doctor.
